Benish, one of eight runners in the third and final heat, was proud of her performance and acknowledged the strong competition. She specifically commended Teya Boyer of Plainview, “who posted the fastest qualifying time and ultimately won the event in 45.”54 seconds. Although Benish was pleased to be part of the podium… she expressed her determination to return stronger next season and reclaim the top spot.
“It kind of just fuels the fire to want to work even harder next year and get back on top of the podium,” she said. Information provided by Star-Herald.

CHAPPELL – A beautiful day with little wind set the stage for the D9 District Meet at Creek Valley High School on May 8, and it was the Leyton Lady Warriors who came out as the big winners out of the Cheyenne County schools that competed.
For the boys, Creek Valley did not qualify any of the boys’ squad, and Leyton had one qualifier, senior Kaleb Borges, who’s second-place finishes qualified him in both the 110 Meter Hurdles and 300 Meter Hurdles. Potter-Dix had two qualifiers with junior Dawsen Monheiser’s first-place shot put effort earning him a trip to Omaha, and sophomore Landon Gasseling’s first-place finish in High Jump also earning him a trip to Omaha.
