The soundtrack for the blockbuster film “Barbie,” directed by Greta Gerwig, has received 11 nominations at the Grammy Awards, including nods for Best Song Written for Visual Media. Five of Billie Eilish’s six nominations this year are for her haunting ballad “What Was I Made For?,” which was written with her brother Finneas.

Eilish is excited to be part of the “Barbie” family.

According to producer Mark Ronson, the soundtrack’s success can be attributed to the artists’ desire to create music that artistically merits the film.

Ronson was hired by music supervisor George Drakoulias to work on the soundtrack, and he recruited Andrew Wyatt, one of his partners on the Oscar-winning Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper song “Shallow” from the 2018 film “A Star Is Born.”
