As the curtain closed on the Sisters Keepers Summer Institute and Black Girls in the Lead (BGILD) Excellence Awards in Accra, young girls were admonished to remain resolute in their pursuit of excellence, exhorted to take bold initiatives to address local issues, and empowered to become responsible and successful adults.

The Summer Institute’s mentorship programme, facilitated by Sisters Keepers, witnessed the participation of 12 girls from Sawla in the Savanna Region and 13 girls from Shama in the Western Region, who benefited from personalized mentorship, workshops, and further training to enhance their leadership and community service capabilities (BusinessGhana, 2023). Ms. Violet Esi Pearson, Founder of Sisters Keepers, a US-based Non-Profitable Organisation, emphasized the importance of connecting and engaging young girls between the ages of 12 to 18 years globally… challenging them to participate in community service.

She noted that the Mentorship Programme, under the partnership, “aimed to bring black girls together,” creating connectivity and linkages to support one another for the common good (BusinessGhana, 2023). Similarly, “Madam Esther Cobbah,” a Communication Specialist and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Stratcomm Africa… implored the girls to persevere and not be swayed by challenges that might arise when striving to achieve their dreams.

The quest to empower young girls globally is a pressing issue that requires our collective attention and efforts. As highlighted in a recent report by BusinessGhana, organizations such as Sisters Keepers are making significant strides in this regard.
