Promoter Lou DiBella will first travel to Tokyo, Japan before heading to Australia to witness the highly anticipated match between pound-for-pounder Naoya Inoue and Luis Nery for the unified super bantamweight title at the Tokyo Dome in front of a sold-out crowd of 55,000 fans. The promoter’s next stop will be Perth, where he will watch his lightweight contender George Kambosos face off against Ukrainian star Vasiliy Lomachenko for the vacant IBF crown at the RAC Arena.

In an interview, DiBella acknowledged that he is excited to witness Inoue’s fight in Tokyo, saying that it is a remarkable opportunity to see the Japanese boxing idol in action. Inoue’s fight is not the only notable match recently… as the boxing promoter believes that the sport is currently healthier in Japan than in the United States.

DiBella expressed his skepticism about Shawn Porter’s claim that Inoue needs to take big fights in America to increase his popularity. According to DiBella, “Inoue is already a household name in Japan,” “drawing parallels between the boxer and iconic Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Shohei Ohtani.” The promoter praised Inoue’s ability to fill the Tokyo Dome, noting that even the highly publicized match between Devin Haney and Garcia did not have the same level of enthusiasm and attendance.

“Boxing is healthier right now in Japan than it is in the United States,” DiBella stated… highlighting the stark contrast between the two markets.
